Sydney is about to get a taste of Thailand as the Thailand Grand Festival 2026 takes over Tumbalong Park in Darling Harbour for an entire weekend of food, music, dance and cultural celebrations.
Running from Saturday, 19th to Sunday, 20th September, the free festival will bring Thai traditions and contemporary culture to the waterfront, with live performances, a Grand Parade, Muay Thai demonstrations, cooking demonstrations, a fashion and textiles showcase and street food representing four regions of Thailand.
The festival runs from 10am onwards, making it an easy option for a full day out in Darling Harbour.
Two days of Thai food, music and culture

Food is one of the biggest draws at the Thailand Grand Festival, with market stalls serving authentic Thai dishes, desserts and locally made Thai products throughout the weekend.
The festival will showcase food from four regions of Thailand, giving visitors the chance to eat their way around the country without leaving Sydney. With at least 16 food, drink and specialty product stalls expected across the weekend, there will be plenty to graze on.
The lineup includes Thai favourites and established Sydney names such as Chat Thai, Boon Café and Restaurant, Thai Riffic, What’s Zaap, Show Neua Thai Street Food, Mae Ong Thai, Thai Buffalo Restaurant and Thai Chanok.
They will also have specialist desserts, drinks and Thai product operators including Pang Pang Grass Jelly Drink and Jarern Chai Grocer joining the festival stalls. Classic favourites will feature alongside regional specialities, including Pad Thai and Khao Soi, the rich and creamy coconut curry noodle soup.
Visitors can cool down with coconut pandan ice cream or tuck into Khao Niew Mamuang, Thailand’s famous sticky mango rice served with sweet condensed milk.
With so many stalls packed into Tumbalong Park, the best approach may be to arrive hungry and turn the weekend into a mini food tour of Thailand.
A free family-friendly weekend in Darling Harbour

There’s lots happening beyond the food stalls. The festival program will bring together traditional Thai cultural performances, vibrant dance displays and live music, including appearances from contemporary Thai artists.
A Grand Parade will also form part of the weekend, adding a colourful procession to the celebrations. Visitors can also watch Muay Thai demonstrations, explore a Thai fashion show and textiles showcase and see Thai cooking brought to life during live demonstrations hosted by Tahnee Cook.
The lineup is designed to offer a snapshot of Thailand’s traditions while also celebrating its contemporary culture. With free entry and activities aimed at all ages, the Thailand Grand Festival offers an easy family day out in the city.
Kids and adults can move between food stalls, live performances, cultural displays, cooking demonstrations and Muay Thai, with plenty to do across both days.
