Although I don’t know why—aside from the alliteration, the syllable count or the similarity in the sound of Tues and twos—I don’t really care because tacos are cheaper on Tuesdays and if you’re in the mood for tacos on a Tuesday, then all you’ve got to do is head to one of these fine taco establishments to get your Taco Tuesday fix.
1. Vandal, Newtown
This is not authentic Mexican. Then again, it’s not trying to be and, as a result, Newtown now has another 100% plant-based restaurant dishing out flavourful tacos. Taking their inspiration from the Latino food trucks of southern California, Vandal uses Mexican cooking as a base to interpret other cuisines and bring the flavours of various migrant communities together. For just $4 a taco, it’s hard to say no to trying something different. Oh, there are $15 Margaritas too.
⏰ From 5pm till late, Tuesday to Sunday
📍 403 King Street, Newtown
2. El Loco, CBD and Surry Hills
Set up like a Mexican cantina, expect fun times at El Loco with over 25 types of tequila behind the bar. And with tacos at $6 apiece with six varieties, you’ll be sure to get your fill of them. Also, keep a lookout for their secret taco, the special of the day.
⏰ All day until 10pm
📍 64 Foveaux Street, Surry Hills
📍 111 Sussex Street, Sydney
3. The Norfolk, Surry Hills
As far as good deals come on Taco Tuesday, The Norfolk’s $5 tacos and $12 Tommy’s
⏰ 12pm-12am
📍 305 Cleveland St, Surry Hills
4. Cantina Bar, Balmain
Tacos at $6 a pop make for a pretty good Tuesday. Unfortunately, it does not include their extra special wagyu tacos. Even still, they’ve got a fair few varieties on the menu like veg and fish tacos.
⏰ 5pm till 9pm
📍 350 Darling Street, Balmain
5. El Camino Cantina, The Rocks and other locations
With every drink purchase at El Camino Cantina, you can order up to five tacos from the $2 range. Or, you can step your taco game up and select from the best-selling Cadillac menu where the tacos are a steal at $4. Either way you go, you’re going to come out winning at El Camino Cantina.
📍 18 Argyle Street, The Rocks
📍 Level Four, Westfield Miranda
📍 Belgrave Street and West Esplanade, Manly Ferry Wharf
6. Beach Burrito Company, Bondi and other locations
With 11 tacos on the menu, including two veg and a vegan option, Beach Burrito Company has definitely got its bases covered. And they’ve got you covered with stores in a number of locations – each designed with its own theme in mind and, most importantly, half-price tacos.
What’s not to love about this crew mixing Australian culture with fresh, healthy and quality Mexican food?

7. SoCal, Neutral Bay
Evoking the laidback Californian surf vibe is SoCal, the southern Californian-inspired bar and eatery in Neutral Bay, where you can kick back on the rooftop and drink bottomless rosé for lunch every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
But not on Tuesdays, where you’re going to be sipping on frozen cocktail slushy specials and downing $4 tacos from 5pm onwards.
Go straight after work to catch Happy Hour from 5-6:30pm.

📍 1 Young St, Neutral Bay
8. Barrio Cellar, CBD
Barrio Cellar specialises in late-night feels. The tequileria and eatery, providing Mexican and southern Californian food and cocktails, is a basement venue designed by award-winning architects where you can get cosy and close to whoever you dragged along to Taco Tuesday.
Or you can go alone and indulge in as many $5 tacos as you can because if there’s anyone you should be getting close to and cosy with, it’s yourself.
