Sydney is gearing up to turn the FIFA World Cup into a city-wide celebration, with two massive free live sites set to bring fans together for every Socceroos moment this June and July.
As a result, the NSW Government is transforming Tumbalong Park in Darling Harbour and Cathy Freeman Park at Sydney Olympic Park into vibrant fan zones, where football fans can watch every Socceroos match live on giant screens throughout the tournament.
Two fan zones, one city-wide atmosphere

From the first kick-off to the final, fans can just arrive and take in the action with thousands of others, without any tickets, bookings or registration needed. Tumbalong Park will host screenings right through to the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. Cathy Freeman Park will show all group stage matches, with additional finals screenings if Australia progresses.
At Darling Harbour, the experience extends beyond the screen. Grab dinner or drinks along the waterfront before settling into Tumbalong Park, where the recently upgraded sound shell will help bring the match-day atmosphere to life.
With more than 26 million visitors recorded in the past year, the precinct continues to cement itself as one of the country’s most visited public destinations.
Western Sydney’s football festival

Over at Sydney Olympic Park, Cathy Freeman Park will offer a more relaxed, festival-style setting. Fans can spread out on picnic rugs, sample food from local food trucks and settle in for the action. The precinct hosts major international sporting and entertainment events and attracts large crowds from across Western Sydney.
Moreover, the live sites form part of the NSW Government’s broader push to expand free, family-friendly events and activate public spaces across the city. Minister for Planning and Public Spaces Paul Scully said the goal is to bring the World Cup atmosphere directly to locals, while reinforcing Sydney’s reputation as a global events city.
Minister for Sport Steve Kamper added that the initiative builds on football’s growing momentum in Australia following the success of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
