Sydney Fringe has finally announced its first physical edition in two years. With the countdown officially on, Sydneysiders can look forward to six weeks packed with comedy, theatre and music events around the city. As part of the event, Runaway Gardens is also making a comeback with a host of events lined up including the Magic Mirrors Spiegeltent.
Step into a glamourous world filled with gorgeous velvet, bevelled mirrors, and stunning stained-glass windows and settle in for an evening of burlesque, comedy and more.

Headlining the program is the Bernie Dieter’s Club Kabarett with German kabarett star Bernie Dieter leading. And it promises to smash boundaries like all its previous editions. Attendees can look forward to jaw dropping Cirque Du Soleil aerialists and risque burlesque.
If you prefer an evening of laughs, the Runaway Comedy Allstars will feature some big names from the world of comedy in Australia including Arj Barker, Jimeoin, Akmal and Lawrence Mooney. That’s not all. Wine enthusiasts can head to Merrick Watt’s Idiot’s Guide to Wine for all the laughs along with the hysterical Multicultural Comedy Gala including Dilruk Jayasinha, Georgie Carroll and Tahir. Get ready for an onslaught of jabs, funny observations and all heaps of laughter every evening.
There are also a number of live and intimate musical performances lined up from the likes of Daryl Braithwaite, Kate Ceberano, Diesel, Renee Geyer, Richard Clapton, Ross Wilson, and The Black Sorrows who will bring all the nostalgia to the event.
Oh and you’ll want to add Poof Doof Drag Brunch Club to your calendar because it’s just as fun as it sounds. There’s a bunch of queens to hang out with, endless mimosas and a full line-up of dazzling drag and cabaret superstars.
There’s also an outdoor pop up garden and restaurant outside slinging gourmet food and beverages with the stunning Harbour Bridge serving as backdrop. It’s the perfect antidote to this gloomy weather and an ideal catch-up with friends.
Runaway Gardens will be open from Tuesday to Thursday, 4-10pm, 12 noon to 11pm on Friday and Saturday and 12pm-10pm on Sundays for six weeks of non-stop fun and laughs. Tickets are already up for purchase and you can snag some here.
