Sydney’s getting a pop-up fitness playground—and you don’t need to be a gym junkie to take part. Fitness First is turning the city’s domestic airport and Pitt Street Mall into spots to test your strength on the go, with 300K Qantas Points up for grabs.
From 9th-22nd February, Sydney Airport’s T3 Terminal and Westfield Sydney’s Pitt Street Mall with workout zones for a new kind of citywide workout challenge, swapping suitcases and shopping bags for squats and wall sits. It’s all part of Fitness First’s new Let’s Put Fitness First campaign—a wake-up call reminding Aussies that small bursts of movement can make a big impact on both, body and mind.
Australia’s fitness gap is growing: 78% miss exercise goals and 6 million lag behind (Fitness First data). Only 15% climb stairs with 44% avoiding pull-ups and 40% ditching wall sits.
“You can reduce your risk of heart disease by up to 35% simply by moving more,” says Sara Dunseath, Executive General Manager of Marketing and PR at Fitness First. “It doesn’t have to mean long or intense workouts—just 30 minutes of movement a day add up to seven years on your life.”
