Spring is almost here, bringing longer days, warmer weather and plenty of colourful blooms along with it. And one of Sydney’s prettiest seasonal displays is getting even bigger this year. Thousands of vibrant paper daisies will soon burst into colour at the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan, but for the first time, visitors will have much more than pretty flowers to look forward to. The garden is launching a brand-new Spring Paper Daisy Festival, turning the annual display into a month-long celebration of the season. Running throughout September and into October, the festival will give Sydneysiders another reason to venture outdoors as the weather warms up, and entry is completely free. Here’s what to expect from the new spring festival.
Paper Daisy Spring Festival set to launch in Mount Annan
The highlight of the festival will naturally be the annual Paper Daisy display, with a sea of colourful blooms filling the Connections Garden beside Lakeside Lawn. Visitors can wander through the display at their own pace before taking advantage of a variety of additional activities taking place around the garden.
Weekends will be particularly lively, with local musicians performing on Lakeside Lawn, along with lawn games and free craft activities for kids. A florist pop-up from Oak & Blossom will offer bouquets and the chance to create your own posy jar, with floral face painting will also be available for little ones.
There’ll be plenty to eat along the way too. Bar Coco will be serving coffee and gelato, with appearances from Milky Lane, while another food truck will dish up burgers, chips and Turkish gozleme. The onsite Gardens Café will also be open for breakfast and lunch. If you’re feeling creative, Pinot & Picasso will host painting sessions among the flowers, with visitors able to decorate a round canvas or tote bag inspired by the surrounding display. Separate sessions will be available for adults, families and children.
The new Muru Nangamai / Pathway to Dreaming Walk will open in September, leading visitors towards the summit of Mount Annan through a landscape featuring poetry, language and art, along with elevated views across the garden.

Getting there
The Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan is around a 45-minute drive from Sydney, with access via the M5 and Narellan Road and parking available within the garden. Public transport is possible but less direct: catch a train to Campbelltown, then a bus towards Camden, followed by around a 2km walk from the nearest stop.
