A stellar 19 towns around NSW have been battling it out in this year’s Top Tourism Towns awards. The results are now in and the south coast has reigned supreme with Kiama, located less than 1.5 hours from Sydney on the Grand Pacific Drive taking out the top spot. The lovely seaside town, famed for its world-famous ocean blowholes won the 2024 NSW Top Tourism Town Award and it wasn’t the only one. Completing the South Coast trifecta were Huskisson and Berry who also got top honours in two different categories.
NSW’s Best Tourism Towns For 2024
Kiama beat the likes of Newcastle, Orange, Bathurst, Ballina and Grafton for the top prize. Wondering what to do here? Kiama offers pristine beaches, natural wonders and lovely coastal walks. It’s easily accessible by public transport with regular train services running daily from Central to Kiama.
Huskisson, an easy 2.5 drive from Sydney was named the the top Tiny Tourism Town for 2024. The picture-perfect village in the heart of Jervis Bay has crystal clear waters and stunning white sand beaches. It also offers plenty of underwater adventures like diving and snorkelling. Huskisson has a tiny population of less than 1500 residents.
The winner for this year’s Small Tourism Town is none other than Berry, a Sydney-favourite getaway and a quick 2-hour drive from the city. The small town is bursting with a big personality and offers boutique shops, vineries, markets and excellent cafes. It has less than 5000 residents. Check out our weekend guide to Berry here.
