Chintown is home to some of Sydney’s best Asian food, shopping and more. And now it’s set to explode into a neon-filled adventure playground with art, lights, music, food and more on the cards. Dubbed Neon Playground, the five-week street festival takes over the bustling locale later this month.
Neon Playground by Chinatown
Giving Chinatown a complete makeover with several glowing art installations, the event will give contemporary artists a platform to exhibit their unique creations from October 15 to November 20, 2022.
The lineup of Asian Australian artists includes Chris Yee, Jason Wing, Joy Li, James Jirat Patradoon and Steffie Yee. Celebrations kick off with a free Block Party on Saturday, October, 15. Dance to Asian-inspired tunes by DJ Arisse, Nightjarr, Destructive Dance Steps, JYLPO, xTRILLIAMS, Dylan Goh, Chuey and others. While there, you can get your hands on cuisines and flavours from around Asia including ramen, street food, yum cha and more.
Keeping the neon theme going, attendees will find a number of immersive elements in the area. Apart from art and music, there’s glow in the dark cocktails, neon noodles, tea ceremonies and more.
