The beloved Moonlight Cinema is coming back to Melbourne for its 29th summer season. Brush off your picnic blankets, breathe in the balmy night air, and look forward to box-office blockbusters and family favourites. This outdoor cinema event is playing at Sydney’s Centennial Parklands from November 22 to March 30.
Moonlight Cinema Program
For its first month, get ready for the festive season with two weeks of beloved holiday films, like Elf, Love Actually, The Holiday, Red One, Home Alone 1 and 2, The Muppet Christmas Carol and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Families will have plenty to choose from with Inside Out 2 and a special preview screening of Paddington in Peru.
There are also new releases like Gladiator II, Wicked, and Heretic, as well as box office hits from this year like Challengers, Deadpool and Wolverine, The Fall Guy, and Twisters. See the Robbie Williams biopic, Better Man, on Boxing Day, and have fun with your besties at screenings like Barbie and Mean Girls (2004).

Each Moonlight Cinema location will have its own kitchens, bars, on-site activations, and bean bags. Look forward to things like:
- Mount Franklin Lightly Sparkling Platinum Experience – At select locations around Australia, including Melbourne, each guest can enjoy a complimentary Mount Franklin Lightly Sparkling, as well as a food package. You’ll also receive personal waiter service straight to your deluxe double bean bag.
- Singapore Airline Gold Grass – Get great views and waiter service, with food and drink delivered straight to your bean bag.
- Connoisseur Lounge – Love ice cream? This option is for you. Receive a Connoisseur Gourmet Ice Cream stick and settle into a bean bag in a reserved area.
- K9 Natural – Moonlight Cinema is a dog-friendly event. Ensure your dog stays as comfy as you by hiring a dog bean bed.
- Garnier Garden Cart – Take home samples of Garnier products from the Garnier Garden Cart.
- Official Aperol Spritz Bar – Sip on freshly made Aperol Spritz, as well as Espolon Tequila Sparkling Margarita, over the summer at this popular bar.
How should I prepare?
If you’re not hiring a bean bag, you’re welcome to pack your own picnic rug and sprawl out across the lawn for a perfect night at the movies. Avoid any pesky bugs by wearing insect repellent, and bring a blanket or wear layers to keep you warm. Of course, you’re welcome to BYO your own food and drink, including alcohol.
However, if you forget to bring snacks, there will be a small range of food and drink to purchase on-site. There will also be a licenced bar.
This is a dog-friendly experience, so you’re welcome to bring your pooch for company as long as they’re well-behaved.
