There’s a pretty sizeable collection of creative spaces in Sydney and joining the fray is the new Michael Reid Art Bar — a unique concept that has taken up residence at The Star. An art gallery by day and vibrant bar by night, it’s a great shout if you’re looking for some late-up culturing in the city. This is Australian gallerist Michael Reid’s second Sydney outpost with an excellent exhibition already on display.
Michael Reid Art Bar
It’s not often that you step inside an art gallery and feel like you’re in a bar. Yet, at this lively new spot you get the best of both worlds. Enjoy new exhibitions every four to six weeks and get your hands on their many boozy offerings and bar bites.
Currently, a striking exhibition called ‘Boom Boom’ is on at the gallery which combines the whimsical works of photographic artist and costume maker Gerwyn Davies, fantastical artist Samuel Hodge and jewellery and sculpture maker Kate Rohde. You can enjoy this exhibition now until September 18.
“The core idea to reframing the gallery experience, is a space that is capable of morphing into a complementary yet entirely distinct venue at dusk,” Reid says of the inventive new space.
As for what you can expect from the bar, there’s heaps on offer. Find locally-sourced cocktails and seltzers, light snacks including marinated olives, candied almonds and cheese platters. There are also some non-alcoholic drinks on the menu along with a variety of beers and wines.
Head down to this new spot for an adventure that seamlessly rolls from day into night. The bar is now open for bookings.
