A huge new food and lifestyle precinct is taking shape in Sydney’s north west. Opening in mid-2026, Melrose Central will bring a hawker-style dining experience to Melrose Park, drawing inspiration from Asia’s lively street markets. Expect neon-lit laneways, open kitchens, and a mix of local and international flavours designed to capture the energy of late-night dining.
Spread across more than 4,700 square metres, Melrose Central is set to be one of Sydney’s largest hawker-style dining precincts, more than triple the size of other bustling hotspots like Burwood Chinatown or Chatswood’s Hawker Lane. Designed by Anthony Ho of Basalt Studio, the space will feature open kitchens, live grill stations, and light installations that transform the precinct after dark. The design and concept aim to create a walkable, immersive setting that feels part market and part art experience, echoing the buzz of popular food quarters across Seoul and Bangkok, without stepping out of the suburbs.
Other highlights

Melrose Central won’t just be about food. Alongside hawker stalls and casual eateries, visitors can expect boutique grocers, a Korean supermarket, cafes, bakeries and wellness spaces. Beauty salons, barbers and nail studios will share the floors with a Pilates studio, recovery zones and infrared saunas. The development will also include an early learning centre and landscaped rooftop gardens, rounding out its mix of convenience and community.
Melrose Central will be built within the growing Melrose Park precinct in Sydney’s north west, just a stone’s throw from Parramatta. With major roads connecting to Sydney Olympic Park and Wentworth Point, the precinct is positioned as a convenient stop for nearby residents and workers, as well as weekend visitors from across Western Sydney.
