A beloved Lower North Shore restaurant is changing hands after more than two decades, marking the end of one chapter for local diners and the beginning of another.
Martha’s, which first opened in Castlecrag before later moving to Northbridge, has been a familiar fixture for locals since opening in September 2004.
The restaurant’s longtime owners, Marek and Arthur, are leaving the business following its sale, with new owners taking over Martha’s Northbridge.
While the ownership changes, the restaurant will continue trading under the Martha’s name until 20th October, allowing existing bookings and celebrations to go ahead during the transition.
Locals say goodbye to a favourite

Owners Marek and Arthur shared the news with customers in a heartfelt message. “After 22 wonderful years, the time has come for us to say farewell to Martha’s,” they wrote.
The pair said the restaurant had become “so much more to us than simply a restaurant”, thanks to the people who had walked through its doors over the years.
They also made clear that they were not retiring. Instead, they plan to take a break and “see where life takes us next”.
A new restaurant is coming to Northbridge

The business has now been sold, with Leah Berman among the new owners of Martha’s Northbridge. The new ownership will continue trading under the Martha’s name until 20th October, with functions and a wedding already booked at the venue during the transition.
The outgoing owners thanked customers for their support, as well as everyone who had recommended the restaurant, returned year after year or celebrated milestones there.
“Your friendship, loyalty and support over the past 22 years have meant more to us than we can possibly express,” they wrote. “To everyone who has walked through our doors, celebrated with us, recommended us to friends, returned year after year, or simply stopped by for a meal—thank you for being part of Martha’s story.”

After 22 years, Marek and Arthur are moving on from Martha’s, while the new owners prepare to take the Northbridge restaurant into its next chapter, ensuring there is no disruption to the service.
