We haven’t even gotten past Christmas yet but since there is only a week separating the merry day from the end of the year, we’re needing to divide our attention and start planning ahead. This is especially the case this year when reservations are key for what’s looking set to be a big celebration. But, if you’re looking for a chill and relaxed start to your end of festivities, then Cockatoo Island’s Marina Cafe and Bar has just the warmup event to help you say goodbye to the year that was.
Spend an afternoon lounging around on Cockatoo Island listening to live music.
On Friday 31 December, Marina Cafe and Bar is continuing their live music sessions. The open-air gigs are held on the lawns of their courtyard beer garden and welcome some of Sydney’s best singer-songwriters and musicians to perform under the sun.
New Year’s Eve day will see Canadian-made artist Sarah Bernado perform a set of catchy and fun-filled classics throughout the afternoon while day-trippers to the island explore and drop by for a spot of lunch from the food truck kitchen onsite. The menu has got all-day breakfast items, toasted wraps, pizzas, burgers as well as fish n chips, which are all prepared and cooked fresh.
The bar is also well-stocked for some afternoon drinks and we also hear that they make the best coffee anywhere on the island.
Sydney Event Cruises
To help you get to Cockatoo Island, which is historically stacked with heaps to see and do and well worth the visit, Marina Cafe and Bar has teamed up with Sydney Event Cruises. You will be picked up and dropped back off in Sydney at the end of the event as part of your NYE Day Out ticket price, which is just $30.
The chilled-out afternoon celebration at Marina Cafe and Bar is a family-friendly event. And since it ends at 5pm, there’s plenty of time before you kick onto the rest of your New Year’s Eve celebrations.
