Jazz Nights Return To This Bondi Restaurant Also Serving Up Five-Course Sharing Menus · Mama Saan

Sunday’s Jazz night is curated by Aria-award winner, Jonathan Zwartz.

Before Covid hit, Mama Saan in Bondi was supporting and showcasing quite the number of local musicians by putting on live-music nights most nights of the week. Those good times had to stop, but now they’re back and they’re back on every Wednesday and Sunday with live jazz and other funky sets.

The Asian-style tapas is also serving up a five-course Japanese fusion sharing menu with a glass of wine to further entice patrons to their hive of activity and den of festivities every night of the week, including on Wednesday jazz nights and Sunday jazz nights.

On Sundays, the live jazz selection will be curated by Aria-award-winning legend and musician Jonathan Zwartz, whose third studio album ‘Animarum’ took out the top prize for the best jazz album in 2018 while his latest collaborative album sold out a national tour last year. He will surely bring the goods and a top collection of friends to entertain diners.

The other live-music night on Wednesdays will see a crop of extremely talented local musicians take to their instruments to jam and put on a show featuring more funk and up-tempo jazz from 7pm onwards—the perfect antidote to humpday woes.

Reservations for Wednesday and Sunday jazz nights ($65pp) include a set five-course sharing menu with sashimi tacos and crispy fried chilli chicken as well as your choice of wine of either Paulett Rieslin, Debussy Reverie or El Desperado.

For vegetarians, a six-course sharing menu has been created featuring instead dengaku eggplant, karage cauliflower and a wild mama mushroom mix.

If you can’t make it on Wednesday or Sunday for jazz nights, and we highly recommend that you do, then Mama Saan’s delicious Japanese-fusion set sharing menu is also available every other night of the week.

The only difference is that to take advantage of the special offer, you will need to book for two ($120). But that should be okay because at Mama Saan, the food—like the good times—has been designed to share.

Recently, Mama Saan also held a one-off bottomless bubbles and sushi special and we’ve heard that they’ve got another special offer in the works for next month. What that is, we’re not too sure yet, but if it’s anything like last month’s special, you know we’ll be keen to find out more.

Stay tuned!
