Bondi’s Mama Saan is a hive of activity at brunch and lunch and den of festivities come evening. Known for its quirky interior that is part tiki bar and part opium den but mashed together, the brooding bar specialises in an alluring blend of pan-Asian tapas, sushi and sashimi.
Mama Saan also puts on great live music nights too. Before Covid hit, it was supporting and showcasing quite the number of local musicians and those good times are back every Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday with live jazz and other funky sets.

Late Bottomless Brunch
Although you might be able to say brunch without bottomless Patrón margaritas, do you really want to?
Mama Saan doesn’t think so, which is why they’re serving up free-flowing margaritas and Palomas for two hours on Saturdays. Pair them wisely with the Japanese-inspired set menu featuring tasty dishes like oysters with sweet yuzu dressing, cucumber kimchi with sesame mayo and fried garlic, sashimi tacos with dumpling pastry and dijon citrus dressing, Peking duck bao served with pickles, cucumber and hoisin sauce and Karaage chicken served with kimchi mayo.
You’ll be able to get your hands on beers and wines as well and if you’re still feeling peckish, you’ll be finding fries on the table as well. At Mama Saan, the food—like the good times—has been designed to share so grab your partner-in-crime and get yourself two seats to this bottomless brunch feast.
All that free-flowing Patrón for just $80pp.
Live Music
On Sundays, the live jazz selection is once again curated by Aria-award-winning legend and musician Jonathan Zwartz, whose third studio album ‘Animarum’ took out the top prize for the best jazz album in 2018. He brings the goods and a top collection of friends to entertain patrons at Mama Saan.
Even if he can’t always be there to delight, he always leaves you in good hands for a fantastic night out wining on top-notch Australian and International wine list and dining on a multiple-course set menu.
On Wednesdays and Thursdays, Mamasounds to the beat of local musicians showcasing their talent. The crop of extremely skilled musos take to their instruments and the mic to put on a show. You’ll find Sydney’s hottest doing their thing and making a name for themselves across funk, up-tempo jazz and soul, RnB and even dance tracks from 7pm onwards—it’s the perfect antidote to humpday woes or Thursdays you wish were Fridays.
Both nights of live music come paired with seven-course set menus featuring dishes like salmon sashimi tacos, pork gyozas and hanger steaks. The only difference between the nights is the drinks, where on Wednesdays you’re served a glass of wine or beer and on Thursdays it’s cocktail time.
Reserve your seat to good music and good times from $65.
