Sydney’s next mission is out of this world! LUNA: A Journey to the Moon is preparing to transport you back to 1969, putting you inside the Apollo 11 mission and giving you the chance to experience the Moon landing from an astronaut’s perspective. You’ll receive special training (like learning how to move in a spacesuit and practising working in zero gravity) before embarking on a mission that will take you all the way to the lunar surface. Built around real events, NASA research, archival footage and historic recordings, LUNA brings one of humanity’s most remarkable achievements to life with cutting-edge immersive technology.
Your astronaut training begins underwater at the Neutral Buoyancy Lab, where a specialised crane system gently lowers you into the pool and moves you through the water to recreate the feeling of neutral buoyancy. You’ll learn how to move in your suit, use your equipment and get an introduction to the Gemini 12 spacecraft module. From there, you’ll attempt a manual docking with the Agena target vehicle before heading outside the spacecraft for EVA tasks. Then Selene opens a wormhole to 1969, transporting you straight into the Apollo 11 mission. After being picked up in the Astrovan and taken to the launchpad, you’ll meet a NASA technician before settling in for the Saturn V launch, complete with internal pre-checks, engine ignition, mission control transmissions and a spectacular view of the rocket from outside the spacecraft.
Once you’re in Earth orbit, you’ll experience the strange sensation of floating in space as your crew begins its journey towards the Moon. As you reach lunar orbit, contact with mission control is temporarily lost, before the mission moves into its most critical stage: the descent. You’ll undock, begin your approach to the lunar surface and deal with alarms as the lunar module makes its final descent. After landing safely, you’ll step onto the Moon, explore the surface, collect samples and read the commemorative plaque before planting the American flag in the Sea of Tranquility. There’s even a call from the President of the United States to mark the historic moment before the experience draws to a close with an epilogue and your return from the mission.
