Lakemba’s much-loved Ramadan night market — rebranded last year as Lakemba Nights — is officially returning in 2026, bringing another month of food, culture and community to Sydney’s southwest. Timed with the month of Ramadan, the once-local community celebration has grown into one of the largest multicultural gatherings in the country, drawing more than a million visitors in recent years. The neighbourhood event has now evolved into a citywide fixture on the events calendar, with Haldon Street transforming into a vibrant after-dark hub across several days in February and March. Visitors can expect the same electric atmosphere, late-night trading and global flavours in its 2026 edition. Here’s everything you need to know.
Lakemba Nights, 2026
Like previous year, around 60 businesses from Lakemba and beyond will once again roll out food stalls and trucks serving everything from the famous camel dumplings and fragrant biryani to charcoal-grilled skewers and spicy satay. Food offerings include pani puri, dosa and jalebi alongside mango lassi, pistachio ice cream, fresh sugar cane juice and the ever-popular rocket kulfi. Street food staples like gozleme, tacos, crepes and fried chicken will also feature, reflecting the suburbss diverse mix of cultures from around the world including Lebanon, India, Egypt, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Do note, Ramadan is a sacred time for the Muslim community, so visitors are encouraged to be mindful, dress modestly and respect the spirit of the month while attending. More than a million visitors expected across the month, so arrive early if you’re hoping to beat peak-hour traffic.
