Filipino fast-food titan Jollibee might soon be opening its first-ever Australian outpost, right here in Sydney. Touted as the “McDonald’s of the Philippines,” the hugely popular chain is tipped to take over the site of Australia’s last remaining Sizzler in Campbelltown, which has sat vacant since 2020. If plans go ahead, Aussies can look forward to to its crowd-pleasing menu, complete with items like the iconic Chickenjoy, signature fried chicken, and the famous sweet Filipino-style spaghetti.
Plans for the Campbelltown site have been approved by council, allowing the former Sizzler location to be redeveloped. The proposal includes three separate fast-food outlets, with Jollibee listed alongside Taco Bell and Krispy Kreme. While there’s still no confirmed timeline for construction or opening, the approval remains active, keeping hopes for the long-awaited Sydney outpost firmly alive.
Founded in the Philippines in the late 1970s, Jollibee has grown into one of the largest fast-food operators in the world, with more than 1,500 stores across Asia, North America, Europe and the Middle East, famously outselling McDonald’s in its home country. As it happens, the suburb is home to one of Australia’s largest Filipino communities, making it a strategic starting point for the chain to enter the Australian market.
Plans for an Australian Jollibee have been in the works for many years but have stalled due to administrative issues. This latest proposal is the first concrete update in the right direction, so fingers crossed the famous bee-themed logo finally makes its appearance on Australian soil soon.
