Missed out on seeing Hamilton in 2021? You’ll want to mark your calendar for winter of 2024 because the revolutionary musical is set to make a huge return to Sydney. Despite dealing with COVID-19 disruptions and cancellations, the musical was met with overwhelmingly positive response during its stellar run in 2021. Now avid theatregoers will get a chance to revisit the magic from Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
Producers Jeffrey Seller and Michael Cassel made the announcement earlier today adding that the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical will return to the Sydney Lyric Theatre for its encore run.
“The demand for the show in Australia has been overwhelming and we couldn’t resist the chance to return to Sydney, where all the excitement started,” he said. “We have been overjoyed by Australia’s support and enthusiasm for theatre in general and for Hamilton in particular. We can’t wait to be back,” producer Jeffrey Seller said.
For the uninitiated, Hamilton, The Musical is the story of Alexander Hamilton, the first secretary of the treasury and right-hand man of George Washington during the Revolutionary War. He was a black immigrant from the West Indies and just like his country, he is ‘young, scrappy and hungry’.
