Dark nights and cold weather are the perfect recipe for a ghost story. There’s something about cosying up with a hot beverage and listening to stories about abandoned houses, grisly murders and spooky apparitions. If you want to beat the seasonal slump and head out for a fun adventure, we’ve got the perfect event for you. The Old Government House in Parramatta is hosting ghostly night tours every month throughout winter and it’s guaranteed to give you the creeps.
Ghost Night at Old Government House
On account of being one of Australia’s oldest public buildings, it makes sense that the Old Government House would have some secrets to tell. The famously haunted site is a heritage-listed former country residence used by ten early governors of New South Wales between 1800 and 1847. Guests can go behind the scenes and soak up the old-world atmosphere of the Georgian house with these spooky candlelight ghost tours. Listen to spine-tingling tales from staff, volunteers and past guests and learn about the house’s colonial past.
Part of the tour will take you through Parramatta Park so you’ll want to watch out for things that go bump in the night. At the end of the tour, warm up with tea, coffee and something sweet and share all your creepy discoveries with the rest of the group.
