Fairfield Council is making it easier for Western Sydney residents to hit the beach this summer by offering free bus rides throughout January, so you have more options than just Pondi on a hot day. To sweeten the deal, the Council will also provide transport services between Bondi and Cabramatta, allowing locals the chance to enjoy some of the area’s famous Vietnamese cuisine.
The first bus service ran this past weekend on January 5 but there are more dates to come. On Sunday, January 12, a free return bus service will run from Fairfield to Bondi, and then from Bondi to Cabramatta. The bus will depart from Deerbush Park (Fairfield Showground) at 9am sharp and will return from Campbell Parade in Bondi at 4.15pm, arriving back at Fairfield Showground around 6pm.
The following weekend on Sunday, January 19, services will operate again between Fairfield and Cronulla, and also between Fairfield and Manly. The final day of free bus services will be on Sunday, February 2, with free buses running once again between Bondi and Fairfield.
Fairfield City is also advocating for changes to make it easier for Western Sydney residents to access the beach.
Although the bus services are free, bookings are required. The maximum booking is for 6 people and children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Find more information and make your booking here.
