Festival of the Winds, 2024
The popular local event first kicked off 45 years ago in 1978 and has since transformed into one of Sydney’s most vibrant calendar events. Thousands of visitors head to the beach to watch fliers from around the country take part in the event. In addition, guests can also enjoy dozens of inflatables like whales, crocodiles, ponies and giant sharks take over the skies.
The event is open to people of all ages who want to enjoy the kite flying and kite making process. Plus, the Bondi Pavillion will be overrun by entertainers, food trucks and local attractions so there’s plenty to fill your day with. Since the event happens along the beach, you can also enjoy a lesiurely swim and enjoy the kaleidoscope of kites from the water.
Everyone from novice to expert fliers will be sending their kites aloft and kite making workshops will also be organised on the day. The event will take place from 11am to 4pm on Sunday, September 8 and entry is free. Please note that the event is subject to weather conditions. Follow their Facebook page for regular updates.
