From seriously spooky street parties to creepy markets and open-air horror cinemas, this Halloween in Sydney is set to raise the bar in spectacular fashion. Joining the stacked list is Sydney’s oldest harbour island which is set to transform into a playground for the supernatural. Cockatoo Island will become Fear Island for a few nights with an immersive experience filled with chills including haunted tunnels, blood bag cocktails, and plenty of devilish encounters.
Fear Island, Sydney
Cockatoo Island has long been regarded as one of Sydney’s most haunted sites steeped in a complicated and layered history. The former colonial prison is rife with stories of supposed hauntings, mysterious occurrences, and paranormal activity and offers one of the best ghost tours in town. It’s safe to say this is a pretty good location for a Halloween celebration.
On offer is an immersive and interactive experience across 2 weekends this spooky season on October 25-27 and November 1-3. Visitors can step into two terrifying tunnels: The Haunted and The Asylum, each spookier than the other. Watch out for things that go bump in the night as unexpected horrors await at every corner. Guests can also expect themed food and drinks, live scare actors, a dance floor, and more. Dressing up in your creepiest outfit is encouraged and family-friendly sessions will be available too. 18+ sessions will be held between 7-9 pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 5-7 pm on Sundays and kid-friendly sessions will be held on 4-5 pm on Saturdays and 2-3 pm on Sundays.
There will be Ferries every 20 minutes from Parramatta, Circular Quay, and all stops to Cockatoo Island and the reverse. Tickets start at $40. Find more information and book a spot here.
