Sydney’s food market scene is showing no signs of slowing down, with another new after-dark event joining the calendar this week. This time, the action is heading south to Kirrawee, a fast-growing suburb in the Sutherland Shire that has undergone a major transformation in recent years. This weekend on September 4 and 5, a local park will host the first Eat Drink Nights Kirrawee, marking the suburb’s first dedicated night food market. Running across two evenings, the free event will bring together dozens of food stalls alongside live entertainment, and plenty of community fun giving locals a new reason to head out after dark. Eat Drink Nights Kirrawee set to launch this weekend
For its first outing, Eat Drink Nights Kirrawee will bring up to 40 food and drink vendors to Biddy Giles Park, with plenty of options for dinner, dessert and drinks throughout the evening. The line-up spans several cuisines, with many dishes prepared fresh at the market.
Food will be a major highlight — you can pick up slow-cooked birria tacos and loaded nachos from Big Boi Tacos, Japanese savoury pancakes from Maido Okonomiyaki, or charcoal-grilled Malaysian chicken and beef satay from Jom Satay. Ola Lola will be cooking paella alongside empanadas and nachos, while Dumpling Cheers and Damaskos Greek Souvlaki will be serving dumplings and charcoal-grilled souvlaki.
For something sweet, Dripped will be dipping strawberries in Belgian chocolate on site, while local distillers Millsheds Distillery and Bar and Champore will also be part of the line-up. There’ll also be live music across both evenings, along with giant bubbles and a puppet show for kids.
