Chechos is the latest venue to join Cronulla’s booming food scene, opening a lively new outpost just steps from the beach. This time, the popular Sydney-born brand has opened its fifth venue at Ocean Grove Avenue, just moments from the sand, marking a major step in its continued expansion.
Set within the newly revitalised town centre, the 135-seat space is designed as an all-occasion destination, equally suited to long lunches and family dinners by the water.
On the menu
At the core of the offering is a punchy, crowd-pleasing menu that balances snackable starters with larger-format dishes. The must-trys include spiced corn ribs topped with manchego, tuna aguachile with ponzu, jalapeños and lime and the brand’s cult-favourite $10 tacos, available daily with fillings like slow-cooked beef brisket and crispy soft shell crab.
For bigger bites, the menu moves into heartier territory with dishes such as Mexican-style pork ribs glazed in cola BBQ sauce and a Wagyu scotch fillet. Otherwise, fresh, vibrant sides—from tajin watermelon salad to avo corn salad—sit alongside indulgent desserts like dulce de leche churros, cast iron cookie dough and house-made crème brûlée.
Cocktails and bottomless brunch
Drinks are their pride and joy, led by Chechos’ viral 1.2L “handbag cocktails”—oversized, share-style serves that have become a social media staple across its venues. In Cronulla, they arrive in flavours like Coconut Kiss, Tropical Paradise, Blue Illusion and Mojito.
The venue also leans into the brunch crowd, hosting a two-hour bottomless experience on weekends. Priced at $89 per person, it pairs signature tacos with free-flowing drinks, DJs and a distinctly party-led atmosphere.
With its beachside location, expansive seating and built-in entertainment factor, Chechos Cronulla positions itself as both a casual drop-in spot and a full-scale group dining destination, adding to the growing list of venues drawing diners south this winter.
