Now open in Darling Harbour, Chaos Lab is an interactive world filled with immersive elements. A touch of chaos and a good helping of creativity is key to a good time in the hands-on experience, which is more than brilliant if you’re a kid.
Chaos Lab is packed chock-a-block with games, art and illusions to surprise the most youthful among us. From the Control Room to the neon-lit Ball Pitt, the Mirror Room to the Dark Room, it’s a thrilling experience for kids who just want to run riot. (And for parents who want to let them loose.)
You can take a look at Chaos Lab’s first children’s test run here.
However, we’re not eight-year-olds. So, what did we think? Find out below.

Although tailored towards children 10 and younger, older kids and parents can also expect some fun elements to keep them entertained at Chaos Lab. The mirror maze in particular is fun to get lost in and also pretty Instagrammable which is always a good incentive. The lite brite wall is another fun addition where you can strike a pose for your socials.
Bring out your inner child and let it play at the neon-lit ball pit, which promises some old-school fun for kids and adults alike. The neon room also comes with a brilliantly-lit game of Twister that’s best played with friends. To keep on with the theme of childhood nostalgia, don’t be shy and get your hands dirty at the slime station or the interactive sand pit.
If you’ve got a little brother or sister, younger cousin or family friend, tag along to Chaos Lab because you can have a heap of fun. If you’re a big kid, you can still have a good time but not all the interactive elements are going to appeal to you. However, some definitely will.

Highly recommended activity for young and old (I think the adults might have more fun!) – Linda Clarke
The Chaos Lab experience is aimed at young children, especially the science show, but all visitors are encouraged to take a deep dive and get their brains and hands working—with colours, textures, materials and of course, slime.
Sessions typically last 45-60 minutes but for some, it will feel like a lifetime trying to find their way out of the Mirror Maze. Due to popular demand, Chaos Lab is open in Sydney until Sunday 13 November.
