Cabramatta will come alive this Sunday, 20th September, as the annual Cabramatta Moon Festival returns with sizzling charcoal BBQ, Vietnamese street food, Filipino favourites, mooncakes, live music, lion dancing and its much-loved lantern parade.
From 11am to 8pm, Cabramatta Town Centre will become a sprawling celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, with more than 100 food and retail stalls, free entry and a packed program designed to keep food lovers, families and culture seekers wandering the streets all day.
And there are two new reasons to make the trip this year: a dedicated Charcoal Food Precinct and a very showdown between two Vietnamese soup favourites.
Eat your way through Southeast Asia

The biggest new addition to this year’s festival is the Charcoal Food Precinct, where smoky grills, sizzling skewers and flame-kissed meats will bring the energy of Southeast Asian street food to Cabramatta Town Centre.
Here, attendees can choose between Vietnamese BBQ from Lang An, Filipino pork skewers from Estradas BBQ, charcoal chicken and ribs from Blazin Chooks, Wagyu skewers from Firepop and Filipino street food from Hoy Pinoy.

Elsewhere, the festival will serve up Malaysian hawker dishes, Korean street food, Taiwanese fried chicken, Japanese-inspired eats, Cambodian and Thai flavours, fresh dumplings and plenty of sweets.
Foodtrip Street Eats will dish up Filipino favourites including liempo, sisig, kwek kwek and turon, while May’s Malaysian Hawker will offer wok-cooked noodles and rice dishes, including vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and halal options.
Save room for mooncakes, Japanese fluffy pancakes, Belgian waffles, Spanish churros, Portuguese tarts and Thai desserts, with matcha, sugarcane juice, fresh juices and mocktails to wash it all down.
A Sunday of music, celebration & fireworks

There’s plenty to keep the whole family entertained between bites, with free kids’ activities and amusement rides, plus the returning children’s chopstick challenge. Around the festival site, lion dancing will bring colour and energy to the streets, while live music and performances take place across Arthur Street, Mekong Mounties, the Dutton Lane Dining Zone and John Street.
Moreover, the new Battle of the Broths will add some friendly competition to the day’s food program, with home cook Duncan Lu putting phở and bún bò huế head-to-head in a live cooking showdown. Visitors can taste both and cast their vote.

As the afternoon rolls into evening, the much-loved lantern parade, led by the Moon Goddess and Archer, will take centre stage before the celebrations build towards the Firecracker Finale.
Moreover, Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said the festival had become one of the city’s most loved annual celebrations. “The Cabramatta Moon Festival is one of our City’s most loved celebrations and an event that showcases the incredible culture, food, and community spirit that make Cabramatta such a special destination.”
