But if you’re looking down at your treasure map, (ie, your phone), you’ll walk right on by because Button Bar is hiding even though it’s in plain sight. But hey, that’s part of what makes this local treasure such a great find.
The other part is that it’s pirate-themed and who doesn’t love a good Ahoy, me hearties every once in a while with a barrel of house rum up on the bar. But don’t be going in expecting the place to be decked out like the Black Pearl and the bartenders dressed like pirates and buccaneers. Nope, not here.

The aesthetic at Button Bar is much more stylish yet the timber throughout, including on the ceiling, and the dim lighting makes for a cosy and warm atmosphere whether you’re sitting in a booth, on a stool, or at one of the small round tables or barrels, perfect for date night.

The drinks menu continues the theme splitting up the cocktail list into three sections: gin for the Sailors, rum for the Pirates, and whisky for the Land Lovers. But if cocktails aren’t your thing, you can find a quality red, white or rosé from home, New Zealand, Spain or Chile to savour. Otherwise, there’s a solid selection of beers and ciders on offer. But, please don’t get three sheets to the wind drunk because then you’ll be thrown overboard.
Food is not forgotten either. Choose from a selection of White Mould, Washed Rind, Hard, and Blue cheeses as well as cold cut meats, pizza, and vege nachos to satiate any hunger and keep the evening going until the whole bar is singing the classics in unison.
