Plans for Australia’s newest city, the Bradfield City Centre are currently underway with a number of exciting features including sprawling green spaces, retail and cultural hubs, and entertainment precincts. The billion-dollar project, which is taking shape in the heart of Western Sydney, has added yet another exciting landmark to its roster. The snazzy new spot will also be home to a huge New York-inspired Central Park set to open alongside the Bradfield Metro station in 2026.
Bradfield City Centre’s Central Park
Sydney’s new Aerotropolis will welcome the huge public space in the main civic centre of the CBD. Spread across two hectares, the park presents a variety of exciting features including a Skyring installation celebrating Sky Country, a lush green space for people to gather for community and cultural events with a capacity to accommodate 5000 people and local art highlighting the local culture and landscape. The design of the park will showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Dharug people. The park will also feature sweeping greenery with about 65 per cent of native trees providing canopy cover.
“Central Park will be the first impression visitors have when they arrive in Bradfield City from the new Western Sydney International Airport, so it’s critical we get it right,” Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, Paul Scully said.
“We want this to be a world-class, open green space that will complement the urban Bradfield city, providing diversity of spaces for everyone.”
Designs for Central Park are on exhibition for public comment until July 24, 2024. Head to the NSW Planning Portal to know more.
