The Pav is finally back. After a two-year hiatus, the iconic Bondi Pavilion will reopen to the public on Wednesday, September 21. The new and improved Pavilion will come with a renovated art gallery, dining venues and new cultural spaces. For nearly a century, the Bondi Pavilion has been an integral part of the Bondi community. A thriving centre for culture and creativity, the hub is now finally ready to welcome back the public.
Bondi Pavilion to reopen
There’s a lot of restoration work that has gone into the shiny new space. Among the many things locals and visitors can look forward to, there’s an updated art gallery and flexible cultural spaces including the new Bondi Story Room digital heritage space. Plus expect a welcome centre and a box office along with a restaurant and a cafe.
And that’s not all. A pottery studio, new showers, new bathrooms and changing rooms are also part of the refurbishment. And it’s just as pretty on the outside as it is on the inside. New outdoor features consist of a swanky courtyard, a new grand entrance to the north and overall better connection from Campbell Parade to the beachfront. Additionally, the decor comes with pleasing terracotta roof tiles in the original 1928 cordova pattern and 220 solar panels.
“We are delighted to welcome back the community to our beloved Pavilion and for the public to discover and explore all that it has to offer, not just on opening night, butfor years to come,” Mayor of Waverley, Paula Masselos said.
Join in on the fun with a grand opening event at 6pm on September 21. Celebrations will include a concert in the courtyard, pop-up exhibitions and fun activities along with heaps of food and dining options. Head to the website for more details and to register.
