Dance, Eat And Drink To The Latin American Beat At Bondi Beach’s Latin American Festival This March

Sydney’s Latin American community takes over Bondi Beach Pavilion for its annual cultural fiesta.

It began four decades ago. A once-a-year celebration of all things latinoamericano – the food, the music, the colour, the art, the people, the dress, and the history. And this year, on Sunday, March 15, Bondi Beach Pavilion erupts once again into a feast of sounds, sights and smells. (Featured image: @bondibeachlatinfest)

Although there is a price attached to the entry for this cultural event, expect bang for your buck with a program so loaded with events and performances that it seems hardly believable it can all take place in half a day.

The parade kicks celebrations off at 11am before doors to the Pavilion open at 12pm. In the Main Arena, you’ll find traditional folkloric performances followed by the best of Sydney’s Latin influenced bands and artists to get those feet moving.

Unsure if you can live up to what you’ve seen on the dancefloor? Don’t worry, and head to the Salon de Baile (Dancehall) for the free dance lessons. Brush up on salsa, samba, bachata, baile funk and even reggaeton too. Need some liquid courage first? Head up to the Las Bandidas Balcony Bar serving up drinks from an exclusive cocktail menu. Besides, it’s not a bad place to kick back and take in the entire party happening around you.

Food will not be in short supply either. There’ll be an Argentinian parillada (a South American BBQ), arepas and empanadas to savour, Pablo’s Kitchen will be sorting out all your Mexican cravings while Sofrito will be serving up paella among so many more.

This year’s fiesta will be the last at Bondi Beach Pavilion, at least for the next couple of years while it goes under renovation.

So, get on down to Bondi this March 15 and celebrate one of the communities that make Sydney great. Kids under the age of 12 can enter free.
