One of Western Sydney’s most popular aquatic centres is set for its biggest transformation in decades, with a major redevelopment planned for Blacktown Aquatic Centre. The much-loved community facility is undergoing a $77.2 million overhaul that will deliver new swimming facilities, upgraded fitness spaces and improved family-friendly attractions for local residents. The project marks the largest investment in the centre’s 64-year history and is designed to modernise the venue while expanding access to swimming, recreation and wellbeing programs. Once complete, the renewed facility will offer a range of new and improved amenities and upgraded spaces, creating a more contemporary aquatic and fitness hub for Blacktown’s fast-growing community.
Blacktown Aquatic Centre set for major revamp
Expansion and improvement of the centre’s swimming facilities is a major focus of the project. Plans include the construction of a brand-new indoor 50-metre pool, providing year-round swimming opportunities regardless of the weather, alongside a new 25-metre program pool that will support learn-to-swim classes, training programs and community activities. The existing outdoor 50-metre pool will also be refurbished as part of the project, ensuring the centre can cater to a wide range of recreational and lap swimmers.
Aside from the pools, visitors can expect a range of upgraded amenities throughout the complex. The redevelopment includes new changerooms and accessibility-focused facilities, as well as a modernised foyer and reception area designed to improve the visitor experience. A new cafe, refreshed fitness and program rooms, and an extension to the popular splash pad are also planned, creating additional spaces for families, fitness enthusiasts and community groups to enjoy.
