One of the South Coast’s most iconic sweet treats is making a rare trip to Sydney this weekend. The Berry Donut Van, a beloved fixture of the picturesque town of Berry for more than 50 years, is bringing its travelling van to the heart of the city for Sydney Marathon weekend. You won’t need to be running the 42-kilometre course to get your hands on one either, with the van open to runners, spectators and anyone else craving a freshly made donut. It’s a particularly handy opportunity for Sydneysiders who usually have to travel more than two hours south to visit the original. Keen to head down? The van will set up on Young Street in Circular Quay, directly across from Customs House and within walking distance of the Sydney Marathon finish line at the Opera House. It will be there across Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30, so you’ll have the whole weekend to stop by.
The signature hot cinnamon donuts will be cooked fresh throughout the weekend, alongside Nutella-filled donuts for anyone after something extra indulgent. The menu will also include coffee, milkshakes, smoothies and hot dogs, so there’ll be savoury options to choose from too.
The Berry institution has been serving people around NSW since 1974, but its Sydney appearance comes courtesy of a newer addition to the business. A separate touring van launched in late 2025, allowing the famous donuts to pop up at festivals and major events around Australia while the original van remains at home in Berry.
More than 40,000 runners are expected to take part in this year’s Sydney Marathon, with large crowds also heading into the city to watch the race, so expect crowds. If you’re visiting specifically for the donuts, Saturday is likely to be the easier option, particularly with extensive road closures planned across the CBD on race day.
