It’s hard to find a beach in and around Sydney that doesn’t have something special to offer. Underwater nature trails and stunning harbour views are some exciting features of beaches around town but a 3-hour drive from Sydney will take you to a beach that’s making waves internationally. After very recently being ranked as one of the top 10 beaches in the world, Hyams Beach has made it to another big list. According to a recent study, the Jervis Bay hotspot has been lauded for having some of the clearest water in Oceania. In fact, eight of the top ten beaches are located in Australia with Hyams Beach making the cut at number 3.
The beaches with the clearest water
Travel site Florida Pan Handle analysed a staggering 2.4 million reviews of over 3000 beaches from around the world, calculating which beach in each country and every continent had the highest percentage of reviews with the words “clear water.” According to the findings, Australia dominated the list of beaches in Oceania with the clearest water although the top spot went to Champagne Beach on the island of Espiritu Santo in Vanuatu. Aside from Hyams Beach, Lagoon Beach in Lord Howe Island in NSW also made the list at number 8. Other Aussie beaches to make the list include the stunning and secluded Parakeet Bay on Rottnest Island at number 2 and Emily Bay on Norfolk Island.
Hyams Beach has long been a popular getaway for Sydneysiders thanks to its pristine white sand, turquoise waters and picturesque surroundings and if you’ve visited you know it’s richly deserving of the title.
