Customs House Forecourt will soon host an authentic French Christmas market complete with melted cheese stations, mulled wines, French chalets and nutcrackers. Organised by the team behind the hugely successful Bastille Festival, you can expect all the traditional French flair at this Christmas market and a lot more.

Bastille French Christmas Market

The Bastille French Christmas Market is gearing up to bring an exceptional array of French wines and mouth-watering treats your way along with a splendid festive atmosphere from December 17-20.

For the unversed, the Bastille Festival is held annually in July around Circular Quay to celebrate all things French in a big way. Now the team is doing us one better by bringing us all the authentic French goodness just in time for Christmas.

The market will run for 4 days and it’s completely free to attend.

Highlights of the Christmas Market

With over 50 food, wine art and craft stalls, you can be sure there’s something for everyone. Wine connoisseurs can look forward to 45 truly brilliant wines selected especially from Bordeaux, Burgundy, Provence, Alsace and Rhone Valley.

Food lovers on the other hand can expect French-style pizzas from the South of France, traditional crepes and delicious raclette.

Even better — there will be a champagne and oyster bar hosted by Pistou Deli from Sydney’s Newtown.

There’s also a French wine and cheese cellar with some amazing wines and cheeses available for takeaway.

“After so many months of not being able to run Bastille, we can’t wait to bring this unique French Christmas experience to life in front of Customs House this December. This special Edition of Bastille, French Christmas Market will give an opportunity to over 50 small businesses, artisans, artists, who suffered tremendously over the last 18 months to exhibit and showcase their savoir faire, in the heart of the city — it’s literally Christmas shopping with good vibes, good food & wine and music,” Festival Director Vincent Hernandez said.
