Despite Asian Pasta not quite yet existing in our lexicon, Bar Pesta has gone out and done it. And to celebrate, they’ve put on $10 lunch specials for you to see what the fuss is about.
Opened by husband and wife team Nhu and Minh Nguyen, owners of the now-closed Xage, Bar Pesta is a no-holds-barred culinary fusion of all kinds of Italian pasta and Asian tastes, ingredients and spices. When asked about the inspiration behind the new eatery, they reminisce about their time as uni students. Pasta, they say, was what brought everyone together – it was the staple that every nationality would eat. And also, it is what they enjoy at home too.
Imagine such combinations as spaghetti Aglio e Olio Laotian, spaghetti Miso Carbonara Chicken, and an Asian Mushroom Wafu served with linguini. Nhu does remind customers that chilli is a key ingredient in many Asian cuisines so it doesn’t come as much of a surprise that eight of the ten Asian Pasta dishes at Bar Pesta are spicy.
