Sydney sea-foodies can now follow in Anthony Bourdain’s culinary footsteps, with Sydney Fish Market launching a special self-guided seafood trail inspired by the chef, writer and TV host’s lifelong love of coastal flavours, fresh produce and food discovery.
Created ahead of the Australian release of A24’s TONY—an electric origin story exploring Bourdain’s early years—the limited-time experience invites visitors to explore the iconic market through the eyes of a young Bourdain and taste the dishes that capture the spirit of his formative years in Provincetown.
Running from Wednesday, 5th August to Sunday, 23rd August, The TONY Trail transforms Sydney Fish Market into a seafood pilgrimage celebrating craftsmanship and the simple pleasure of eating great food.
A Taste of Bourdain’s Provincetown

Before becoming one of the world’s most influential culinary storytellers, Anthony Bourdain spent a formative summer in Provincetown, Massachusetts. There, he discovered restaurant kitchens, learned seafood preparation, and developed a passion for fresh, local ingredients.
Directed by Matt Johnson, TONY follows 19-year-old Bourdain as he arrives in Provincetown and finds himself immersed in the unpredictable world of a professional kitchen. The experience would shape his future career, from learning how to fillet fish and shuck oysters to understanding the personalities, pressures and passions behind restaurant life.
The Sydney Fish Market trail captures that same sense of adventure, encouraging visitors to explore new flavours and embrace the unexpected.
