Bondi Junction is getting a colourful taste of Mexico this Thursday, with its first-ever Day of the Dead festival bringing Latin American street food, live music, glowing market stalls and free kids’ face painting to Oxford Street Mall.
Taking place on Thursday, 29th October, the special Día de los Muertos edition of the Bondi Junction Markets will run from 4pm to 9pm, with free entry for everyone.
Bring family and friends for a lively evening of food, shopping and entertainment, just in time for Halloween.
Tacos, empanadas and churros are on the menu

This is your call to come starving, because the festival promises a spread of Latin American favourites, including tacos, quesadillas, tamales, enchiladas, paella, empanadas, arepas and crepes.
For dessert, expect churros, dulce de leche treats, traditional sweets, coconut candy, rice pudding and chocolate desserts.
Between tacos, take a look at the vintage fashion, handmade jewellery and independent stalls. Mexilove Australia is also bringing a Día de los Muertos collection of Mexican-inspired crafts, clothing and accessories.
Free face painting and after-dark entertainment
As the sun goes down, neon lighting installations, DJs and live music will bring a festival atmosphere to Oxford Street Mall.
Kids can enjoy free Day of the Dead-themed face painting by artist Megu, making it an easy family outing as well as a fun Thursday-night option for friends and food lovers.
The celebration is based on Día de los Muertos, the Mexican tradition of honouring loved ones who have died through remembrance, colour and celebration.
