Sydney rooftops are not just for springtime and sunny days. And East Village Sydney is showing us (again) that with a bit of a makeover, their iconic rooftop is the place to be this winter.
The popular Winter Garden returns in 2022 with a European Christmas theme, featuring thousands of fairy lights, pink lighting and faux fur cushions as well as the all-important rooftop heaters and snug blankets you can cuddle up under to keep warm on chilly nights. Obviously, the same gorgeous city skyline is present.
The winter menu is complete with both warm-me-up-from-the-inside drinks and a selection of toasty (and tasty) dishes.
There’s a spiced-mulled cider, made with traditional Glühwein and European-style warm meads sourced from the Barossa, as well as a selection of winter cocktails like an old-fashioned concocted with smoked Zacapa 23 rum, an Alpine Sour and a Winter Spritz. And for a quick shock to your system, East Village is doing Cinnamon Toasty shots too. That’s cinnamon schnapps and Amaretto.
Possibly the most popular item on this winter rooftop wonderland, though, is going to be the spiked cheese fondue. The gooey selection of cheeses comes with pickled vegetables, cured meats and bread to dip, eat, and repeat.
But, that’s not all. There’s an authentic market Currywurst dish served with German Bratwurst and curried ketchup sauce plus a chicken liver parfait served on warm toasted brioche fingers. Dessert hasn’t been left out either. If you’ve still got room in your bellies, the pear and fig in a sweet and spiced red-wine reduction with Chantilly cream will have you licking your lips.
The rooftop Winter Garden at East Village Sydney is now open.
